Hemianthus micranthemoides - Pearl Grass, Pearl Weed

This plant lives up to its name. This is a very delicate stem plant with elongated leaves, that is particularly well suited to plant dense hedges. I enjoy this plant arranged in contrast to broad-leaved, dark plants.

The plantlets can be placed in sets of approximately 10 individual plants at a distance of about 3-5 cm. The easiest way to keep them in form is using scissors, as it is done even with the hedges in the garden. After pruning, it only takes a few days to let new leaf apex appear being a vision of delight.

Sometimes the stocks should be rejuvenated by placing new cuttings from the old stocks. The Pearl Weed grows about 10-20 cm per month.

This plant is certainly a little more demanding and requires a lot of light and possibly an additional CO2 fertilization.

But she looks really great and is therefore often used in natural aquariums by Amano. As you can see at the pictures, it is also suitable for planting HMFs.
